Hope for Change

With the recent inauguration of our 44th President I am hopeful for positive change. My children make the election of Barack Obama even more exciting for me. I have never been so excited and inspired by politics as I am now. Even with the economy in such turmoil and the environment in despair, I do have some hope of a better world for my kids! I have faith that Obama can get this country back on track; he is just beginning a very long process of restoring our nation's strength and respect at home and abroad.

Sick Family

On Monday I woke up with a horrible sore throat - worse than any I've ever had. Then on Tuesday Rob got it! Since there were no other cold/flu symptoms I had a feeling it was strep throat and that we would need antibiotics. Anyway I went to the doctor for a test and since Dylan was with me I had them test him too (since most of my illnesses come from my kids!). The next day we got the results, and not surprisingly we had it! Rob and Luke went in yesterday and now we're all taking antibiotics to make it go away!! Needless to say it has not been a very fun week, and I'm exhausted. The crazy thing is I would have had no idea that the boys were that sick, if I hadn't gotten sick myself!

Winter Update

Well, football season has ended at our house, since our favorite teams have all lost!! The boys cheered for the Sooners and Chargers to no avail! Dylan has been obsessed with good guys vs. bad guys, so he concluded that the bad guys won, which was quite unsettling to him. Luke is talking up a storm these days. He knows tons of words and is beginning to string them together and communicating with us... so cute! He is a very determined little guy and wants to always do whatever his big brother is doing. As you can imagine, this is often problematic and the source of many scuffles between the two. It doesn't help that he's huge and likes to wrestle and tackle Dylan for fun. Dilly isn't always up for this and it's becoming a source of difficulty with them. Overall though they love each other and take care of one another (especially when I'm not around). I signed Dylan up for a gymnastics class, Little Leapers, where he's learning some tumbling (along with structured listening and following directions from the teacher). Since he's not in a formal preschool setting, I think it's a good idea to expose him to these activities as practice for kindergarten. He'll start soccer at the YMCA in the spring (I can't believe I'll soon be a suburban soccer mom; at least I don't drive a minivan!). The winter weather has let up a bit here and we've recently had some sunshine. We're headed to the snow next weekend and I'm hoping it won't all be melted!!

Too Cute

This photo is not the best quality (off of Rob's phone) but it was too cute not to post. For Christmas the boys got capes and crowns to play dress up. Here's Lukie in costume. They run around and pretend they are princes, kings and knights fighting dragons and having other adventures...I even get to be the "beautiful princess"! Anyway Happy New Year to all. Best wishes for a wonderful 2009 full of many more good memories!
